Harlem Hellfighters is a children’s picture book written by J. Patrick Lewis and illustrated by Gary Kelley. The story is about the African-American soldiers of 369th Infantry Regiment in World War One who put their lives on the line during widespread bigotry and racism in the name of democracy and freedom.
The book has been an Editors' Choice and a short feature in the NY Times Book Review, a starred review in Publishers Weekly, received very positive reviews from Kirkus and The Boston Globe and won a medal in The Original Art Exhibition at the Society of Illustrators in New York.
