When Motionographer announced their second F5 Fest, an event celebrating creative spirits through original motion work, workshops and incredible presenters, Upper First was asked to create a number of bumpers for the events film festival, Re:Play. The theme was Happiness and we had two weeks to deliver.
We thought of all things happy and went through the list of usual suspects, sesame street, cupcakes, balloons, rollercoaster, sunshine, skydiving, basic unbridled fun. After a week of agonising we just said f**k it and went to work. Once we let the various batches of ideas filter through our swedish melancholic disposition, the voodoo clown emerged and we loved him. He would provide a semi crazy and appropriate introduction to what we thought would be a variety show ranging from uplifting happy-happy-joy-joy films all the way to surreal abstract expressions.
With the short amount of time to produce the spots we relied on creative partners we know and love. Kungen & Hertigen had complete freedom on sound/music and dancer Graham Adey was briefed, dressed up and let loose. Also a big thanks to Martin Nyberg for help in animating animals
