Firefox OS was a mobile operating system by Mozilla that was launched to market on 2013 by Telefónica. The Firefox OS for mobile devices was built on Mozilla’s “Boot to Gecko Project”, which unlocks many of the current limitations of web development on mobile, allowing HTML5 apps to access the underlying capabilities of a phone, previously only available to native apps. Telefónica’s Digital unit joined forces with Mozilla to take this work and showcase a new phone architecture where every phone feature, like calling, messaging, games, etc. is an HTML 5 app.

I led the UI design of the Communication Apps suite for V 2.0, redesigning it to fit the OS new style projection to be brighter, cleaner and delightful. This involved rethinking the OS's Building Blocks which were used across near 20 core OS apps.

The goal: Create a better experience by providing a very clear and light interface. Help the users navigate by stressing out hierarchies and meaningfull white space. Fullfil the bussiness purpose of positioning the OS as a fresh, new alternative emerging in the mobile market.

The UI challenge:
Be more code based to increase performance and function seamlessly in a large portfolio of devices, be light and bright to improve the content consumption and be flexible enough to spread and style any other kind of app living in the OS.
