Many times I just pass by places like the Gothenburg Central Station, often in a hurry and with no time to observate the surroundings. But if we take some time and lift our heads from the ground for a minute we realise that there is actually a lot of history right there in front of us. The walls, floor, ceiling, pillars, platforms and if we take a closer look many small details will have their own story to tell. Me and Photographer Lina Wennström decided to try and find archive images of the central station. With the historical images we then revisited the places they where taken. Putting the pictures together and focused on details and environments in the images from the different periods, both differences and similarities. It was fascinating to see how much had change, but mainly what had been preserved. Restaurants have been replaced with new, people with others, murals and lamps have kept their places. We where very pleased to discover that they retained much of the history and then modernized it as needed.

Destroy and rebuild is not the only solution.
