The Map
The 2014 edition of Budapest Design Map published by Budapest Design Week organised in autumn was introduced on the World Industrial Design Day. Issued in a renewed format with up-to-date information to assist design fans, the map is available in print, as well as a downloadable application.

The English language map was commissioned by the Hungarian Design Council to assist visitors of Budapest in exploring the design treasures of the Hungarian capital by featuring information about over 150 design businesses, galleries and museums arranged in thematic groups. In addition to the print version of the map, a complex mobile application (Android, iOS) is also available. Based on a downloadable street level map of the city, the application includes a rich directory with key information (address, opening times, etc.), photos and descriptions of the featured design spots that can be sorted alphabetically, and by category. All features of the mobile version can be used offline, and when online functions include route planning as well.

The Festival
Figurative Sense | Design & technology
Our everyday lives are more and more pervaded by technology and the internet, by the use of smart devices. This trend has a significant effect on design as well. The flagship programs of the festival aim at presenting the common grounds, the possibilities, the most recent results and current issues of design and technology through case studies, examples, presentations and thought-provoking discussions.

Hardly any creative process was left intact by the massive impact of the technological revolution. The change is particularly significant in the field of design, where certain disciplines of art, such as graphics or interior design, left behind their previous medium, i.e. paper, to continue their existence almost exclusively in a computer aided environment.
