This design is an experiment in Gestalt theory (one of my first). The idea of opposing figures (negative space) creating something new in positive space is not new...what is new, anyway. But the overall theme of “melt” is an explanation of Gestalt psychology in the terms of polar opposites and how they depend on each other for definition—mutual dependence. In a way, this is like the Taoist idea of Yin Yang. In parallel, the theme of love and various types of “melting” strengthens the ideal of mutual dependence.
I designed this poster as part of an assigment for my "classroom managment" class, which is part of my Masters in Education curriculum.
