Ben Kither from OWT Creative approached a number of creatives to contribute to a unique exhibition he had created as a farewell for his move to sunny San Francisco (lucky bugger). As Ben was a tutor on my university course & always gave spot-on advice & guidance, I couldn't refuse.
Each contributor was asked to create a piece based on the theme of departure which would then be risographed & printed on the lovely colourplan papers of GFSmith. 30 copies of each piece were printed, jumbled up in a random order & displayed across a wall in 2022nq in the Northern Quarter, Manchester. This allowed for a constantly changing exhbition, curated by the audience revealing a new layout of prints each time one was removed from the wall. All prints were available to take home on the night for free & safe to say, they all vanished within minutes!
The concept behind my piece was simple, everyone is guilty of bombarding social media with hundreds of thousands of photos whilst they're travelling around the world & on the whole forget to simply GET OFF(LINE). My design is a map of an imaginary place where placenames make reference to the various social media platforms people tend to abuse whilst abroad.
