"Manic Pixie Dream Girl" or MPDG is a character type in a film as coined by film critic Nathan Rabin after observing Claire's character on Elizabethtown (2005). I'm very much into MPDG characters, that I often overlook the fact that MPDGs are almost nonexistent in real life. I learned that MPDGs are usually stereotype "problem" girls. These characters are borne out of the writer's imagination and are strongly fictional. I created a poster for the most popular MPDGs on the history of cinema. You'll probably recognize some of them. :-)
