Overlook at Wood Island Marsh

Site that was given was Wood Island Marsh in Boston. Our program and objective was to create a playscape and park that connects the existing greenway.

Using a site adjacency diagram, I concluded that there was a lack of rest stops along the path and places that frame the view. The site also acted as a transition between a heavily built environment to nature. This made me pursue a design that revolved around the idea of "respite".
Creating a physical boundary between built and natural environment to isolate each ecosystem that originally created a contested space, while utilizing each of their own innate activity. This innate activity is utilized to manipulate the amount of work the user experiences.Respite is defined as a short period of rest or relief from something difficult or unpleasant. I then further looked into the different qualities that make a space induce respite.
