The story of my characters begins on a make believe Island on the coast of the Dominican Republic and within the borders of the Burmueda Triangle. There are many different creatures living there and the normal laws of nature do not apply, so one of them is a Dinosaur even though in our world they are extinct. Derek is a quiet and shy dinosaur so he gets picked on by the other creatures, he feels very lonely because he is the only one of his kind living on the Island. Dillon the armadillo is particularly mean to Derek because he is afraid of him. He does not quite know what creature Derek is and so fears what he may be capable of. One day Derek gets so upset by Dillions constant moaning and teasing that he runs deep into the forest of the Island. He keeps running and running past all of the usual plane wrecks and pieces of boats etc. However as he is running a strange noise grabs his attention, a fuzzy white buzzing noise. He realizes it is coming from one of the plane wreckages and climbs in awkwardly  to investigate. He discovers a very tiny portable telly that is playing a film. He is tranfixed  by this object and cant take his eyes of it. Then a great dragon creature appears on screen.. the movie is Godzilla! Derek is excited because he now believes he has a family somewhere! He watches the film over and over again and becomes convinved he can dig his way to new york to find his family.

Here are the model sheets of my antagonist character Dillon the Armadillo who is a bully.

 

This is my vector image. I am also not happy with this, but I feel as this was my first project made using illustrator, it was a good attempt, but the end results of both characters definately do not reflect the amount of time I put in trying to get them right!

 

This is the model of Dillon, made in the same way as Derek. I like both my models and feel like they reflect the personality of the characters. Dillon is a bully but as shown in the model sheets he is also a very anxious little guy (like most bullies deep down!) and I think this shows in bith the drawings and the model.
