Conceptual Portrait || stop-motion film

In my conceptual piece I decided to do a stop motion film. This is something I have never done before. I started brainstorming with a specific thought in mind. I did not want to produce a graphic design piece because that is something I do everyday. This is the first concept that portrays my personality. I love to try new things, experiment, and challenge myself. I wanted to do something original and not consistent with my daily routine. I choose stop motion because it is a fast pace video of many images that tell a story. In this I can relate to myself in saying that I myself have many frames in life. All the frames represent different characteristics. The fast pace represents my active and adventurous lifestyle. This film also gives a glimpse into my story. It begins with Russian motryoshka dolls which are very Russian in nature and are, one can say, "full of themselves." In using these nesting dolls I wanted to represent that there are many parts to a Russian soul. A Russian soul can be described as mysterious, but is quite deep like the motryoshka dolls that keep opening until the last little doll is opened. The last doll can be seen as the heart. Every doll represents a characteristic type. It shows that I am a person who loves diversity and is involved in many activities. I am a passionate person who wants to get to the roots of life and experience it to it's deepest potential. A few activities that I included in my stopmotion were hockey and dancing. When one thinks about the sport of hockey it can be said that hockey is for strong and bold people. It is for the ones who are not afraid to take chances and fight for what they believe in. We all know that hockey fights are why people watch this sport. It also represents my ability to problem solve and think quickly. Dancing is one of my favorite activities as well. This one was presented a bit randomly because I literally dance at the most random times. In dancing I find the freedom of expression to be the most beneficial part of my life. Dancing expresses creativity and portrays a healthy and active lifestyle which is what I am all about. The last thing is that a stop motion film tells a story. In my film I represent myself being born in Russia (former Soviet Union) as a small baby. Then after about 12 years I leave for Philadelphia to pursue dreams. It is as a young adult that I become successful. I am a dancer and a hockey player. This is a small piece of myself. There lay deeper passions inside of me - the motryoshka doll.
