The Unknown History of Color

The Unknown History of Color

'The Unknown History of Color' is a short documentary about one history of color which you probably haven't heard about yet. The facts it reveals have been unearthed by a group of four communication design students from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon, in Portugal. It mixes history and color in a glass full of water and reviews color's history since the beginning of the gray universe, through the bloody colorful wars. It may answer the old question 'Where does color come from?'… or it may not. Either way, it's well worth a peek.

Project made in the Workshop “A What and Other Object Lesson” organized by Sílvia Matias, Nina Paim and Emilia Bergmark for the exhibition Taking a Line for a Walk: An Exhibition about Assignments in Design Education at the 26th International Biennial of Graphic Design Brno 2014. Presented in a collective exhibition at Arquivo 237, Lisbon.

History narrated by Jorge dos Reis
Authors: Adriana Berardo, Ana Cotovio, Andreia da Silva and Joana Pinheiro
