My First Engagement Photoshoot

My First Engagement Photoshoot
Josh & Amanda
I suppose you could consider this my first paid freelance assignment.  A friend of mine, Amanda, is getting married soon, and she asked me to shoot her engagement photos.  I felt like I should just do this as a wedding gift for a friend, but she wanted to pay me, so we settled on her giving me a big discount on  Mary Kay cosmetics (an excellent solution).

She wanted an old-timey vintage feel, so I ended up coloring some photos with that vintage effect and leaving some in black and white.
Josh actually proposed to Amanda with Genesis 2:24, which reads "Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh."  Unfortunately, I had a hard time focusing the camera on that verse without catching the last half that reads "And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed."  We figured that might be a little awkward for anyone looking at the picture, so we decided this verse did just as well.
I've come to realize that most of my favorite pictures are in black and white.  I wonder why that is.
Josh is moving up to Maryland, Amanda's home state, but he wanted to make sure he had some lovely pictures representing South Carolina.  A palmetto trees, the most well known symbol of South Carolina, on the State House grounds made a beautiful background.  Josh made sure I got the statue on the left in the frame, because let's face it.  That's a pretty awesome horse.
