General Electric has built Customer Applications Centers to provide a venue for their industry customers to learn about current GE products. The project initially included 10 sites around the world's larges industrial centers, has grown to 16 locations, and with more on the way.

 

The project called for compelling touchscreen content as well as a platform to manage new and changing content for over 10 sites around the globe. To manage such a large amount of content all over the world, the system had to be 100% reliable with zero effort, as on-site technical support is not available.

 

A careful mix of cutting-edge web technologies, video editing, 3D tools, and a mix of local and distributed network methods were used to produce a beautiful experience—with the peace of mind of rock-solid reliability.

 

Fully touch-interactive 3D industry maps provide a rich and inviting way to explore GE products. Selecting an industry map takes you to a landscape of a typical industrial location featuring facilities where products are used. Tapping on a facility brings up a list of professions and choosing a profession opens the Product Browser where you can learn more about the products used in that unique combination of industrial location, facility and profession.

 

A custom responsive, touch-controllable and looping video player was created to feature GE's high definition videos.

 

A grid-style horizontal interface wase created to feature testimonials in a variety of media types for each industry. The grid enabled quick and easy additions of video, text or static photos.
