    Sir Morien, the outstanding knight of Arthurian legend, relinquishes his title, and leaves Camelot, following a brutal incident that causes him to question both his loyalty to the crown, and his purpose in life. Disillusioned and dismayed, he wanders the British countryside, where he finds work as a champion-for-hire, specializing in the elimination of mystical creatures. He is pursued relentlessly by King Arthur and his Knights of the Roundtable, who have been poisoned against him by the wizard Merlin, but finds the most unlikely ally in Ifrit, a vanquished jinn (genie) sworn to serve him.
