Gail Borden is an awarded public library district located in Elgin, IL. It's one of the largest in Illinois based on people served and is a staple to the Elgin community. There are two locations in the Elgin area one of which is a LEED Certified Gold building. Gail Borden's focus is on service - a service to fill a need or provide materials to maximize a learning experience.
The old identity was problematic, unfocused, and didn't reflect the high standard that Gail Borden holds itself to. The new identity created focused on the fulfilling, educational, accessible, and innovative environment Gail Borden provides. It's focus on education was highlighted with a unique mark that resembles a bookmark draped over a book. The typography was created to be simple and readable while utilizing a significantly reduced color palette.
The result is an identity that lives up to par with the staple that is the Gail Borden library district.
