In making 'SPILL" bookcover, I first created a new document in Adobe Photoshop CS. I then sized my cover to fit the dimensions of 18"x 9". I composited all of the pictures that I wanted to use. I used the magic wand tool, quick selection, and lasso tool to specifically use certain parts of the photographs. I created masks for some and not for others. I used the Layer panel to apply color overlays and feathering effects. I also used the rectangle tool to add a blank background for the summary to be placed over top and then adjusted the opacity.
