This is a personal piece. I really wanted to experiment with a variety of textures.
I started with bad quality photo of The Immortals mask, and built it up, playing on the fabric material, adding folds and giving it more volume. Japanese ink-wash painting (sumi-e) served as a heavy influence as well, as demonstrated in the paint brush strokes throughout the piece.

Further manipulations ultimately rendered a very organic, hand-crafted aesthetic, which is exactly what I was going for.
I'm pretty happy with the outcome on this one. I think it's a spiritual extension the "Bushido" series I did a few years back.
