Star Trek Poster

This is an illustration I did to advertise a Star Trek fan event. Because I know everyone has a favorite generation of Star Trek I made sure to include a character from each series for this piece (although I put a lot of Next Generation characters in it, because it's my favorite).

It's a pencil and ink drawing, with pattern and color added in Adobe Photoshop. A lot of the patterns are made out of glitched images. I have recently been learning how to edit images into abstract glitched shapes by editing their code. It's a lot of fun, and can yield interesting results.
Below is the original drawing. I almost always start a piece off with a light colored pencil drawing to figure out exactly where I'm going to be placing the shapes, and what those shapes will look like. I have become more interested in leaving the evidence of that in my work recently. I normally erase them, but here I decided to leave them behind, and I think the result in the final is interesting.

It's the rainy season right now in Florida, and it rained so hard that water soaked through my bag and into the pad I had this piece in. You can see how the rain affected the ink in the bottom corner, and on Spock's insignia. I thought about editing that out, but I decided I liked the texture, and left it behind.
Below is the image incooporated into the poster design.
