The mines of São Domingos located in Alentejo, Portugal, has been know at least for over 4300 years. First explored and abandoned by the Phoenicians and Carthaginians, it was later on explored by the Romans from 12 to 397 AD, who digged out 4 million tons of ore. From 1868 till its closure in 1966 it was explored by an English company.
On our way back home we visited São Domingos one last time and shot this small video and take a few more photos.
