Banksy, the most mysterious artist in the world. Although his true identity isn't known, his typical street artwork is famous across the world. He has already left many anonymous graffiti artworks in European cities but also some in America and Palestina. His work is often claimed as being an act of vandalism because he doesn't get permission to use the walls for his paintings.
I love his work because it always has a strong or just humorous message behind it. Some of his artworks get a lot of media attention, like this one a few days ago. Banksy left a painting at a British bathing place that caused an uproar to some passengers that claimed it was racist. The work shows pigeons that are holding signs with "Migrants not welcome", "Go back to Africa" and "Keep off our worms" towards an exotic bird. The city now removed the painting after some complaints.
As we know Banksy and his criticism against the government, it is not a coincidence that the painting showed up in this city and at this time. The local politician Douglas Carswell recently changed his party for the conservative party Ukip. Ukip is known for its strong opinions against immigration. The city will have elections next week.
It's a shame that the artwork is removed because it had an ironic intake on the current situation. But with the fact that it got to the media this piece of Banksy will reach to even more people. The people wanted it gone for the racist connotation of the work, but actually Banksy wanted to make a point. He wanted to represent the opinions of the conservative political party in its painting. Some people just don't get the irony. And well, if people want racism gone, they shouldn't vote for a racist party as well.
