Astrophotography

M31 - The Andromeda Galaxy.
M51 - The Whirlpool Galaxy. This is a quick 5 minute exposure.
This is a combined image of two seperate images. Both being a 1 hour exposure resulting in this final 2 hour exposure.
The Cheesewring staring up at Polaris, the North Star.
Star trails over The Pipers up on Bodmin Moor.
A 'Moon Halo'.
M42 - The Orion Nebula.
Saturn captured through a telescope - poor visibility due to low cloud/haze.
The above 3 shots were done for fun, each features a different kind of light on the foreground subject. A blue light, a red light and then a green laser pen.
This was my final shot of the evening. On the horizon you can see lights, this is from a factory. Yet looming above is our Milky Way galaxy. It dominates the scene and reminds us just how small we are - and consider that it's just a small part of the galaxy that you can see.
The Orion Nebula that lies within the Orion constellation - it is around 1300 light years away from our Earth!
Comet Lovejoy.
Bedruthan Steps in the early hours of the morning.
Moon shining dimly as the Sun rises over the edge of Cornwall.
Took a journey to Helman Tor only to be stopped by this intriguing piece of architecture. It was, however, in someone's garden so I went and asked if it would be alright to go in and use it. The next thing I know we're inside chatting away sharing some bevs to go with it. I went out for a timelapse and star trail but as you can see cloud crept in to ruin my shot of a star trail - still looks alright though I suppose! Since this cross isn't named I decided to dub it the following:
Ken's Cross.
For the first time in a long time the Northern Lights were visible in Cornwall! I rushed to the moors try and get something. This was the best I could get. You can see some faint vertical lights here and there.
The eclipse that occured over the UK.
Took another trip down to Ken's to redo the image I had done before. This time I got a much better result, no cloud what so ever!
Shot of the Milky Way above the moorland. To capture the Milky Way in Cornwall one must be awake in the early hours of the morning, 4am should do nicely. I was really excited when looking through my camera to see this. It's the first time I've ever got the core before.
Another shot of the Milky Way with the Cheesewring in the foreground.
I was lucky enough to gain access to the Minack Theatre in the night hours to take some pictures. I arrived at 2am and explored the area first. Such a lovely place! Combined with the sound of the crashing waves below and the stars above, there's something very special about this place. The above picture was a bit noisy but alas proves to be a decent picture!
This was the last picture of the night. This one was taken with a full frame camera, hence why the Milky Way seems smaller. This is my favourite of the night.
