These are a series of promotional postcards that I was asked to illustrate in September 2014 in order to advertise "El Legado" ("The Legacy"), a TV series directed by Mariano Hueter and aired in Argentina's "Canal 9". These were specifically made to hand out at Pop Con 2014 (an Argentine comic-book and TV convention).

Estas son una serie de postales promocionales que se me pidió ilustrar en Septiembre del 2014 para promocionar "El Legado", una serie de TV dirigida por Mariano Hueter y emitida por "Canal 9" en Argentina. THE POSTCARDS
When I started planning these illustrations, I had always thought of adopting a "Grand Theft Auto" style for them. Not only because it looks good, but also because it's a style unlike anything I had ever done before, and I was looking forward to trying something different. Besides, it's a style flexible enough to be adapted to the particular needs of each illustration.
Each one of these three postcards reflects a different aspect, a different storyline of the series, so I will give a short explanation under every illustration.

Cuando empecé a planear estas ilustraciones, siempre pensé en adoptar un estilo "Grand Theft Auto". No solo porque se ve bien, sino también porque se trata de un estilo distinto a lo que he hecho anteriormente, y estaba esperando con ansias probar algo distinto. Además, es un estilo lo suficientemente flexible como para adaptarse a las necesidades particulares de cada ilustración.
Cada una de estas tres postales refleja un aspecto distinto, una línea argumental diferente de la serie, así que daré una breve explicación debajo de cada ilustración.

This illustration shows the storyline that takes place in the XIX Century, starring hero Giuseppe Garibaldi (played by actor Pablo Rago) and his nemesis Cisneros (played by Luis Machín), both real historical characters. This storyline has a slight "Count of Montecristo" feel to it, so I tried to reflect that.

Esta ilustración muestra la línea argumental que ocurre en el siglo XIX, protagonizada por el héroe Giuseppe Garibaldi (interpretado por el actor Pablo rago) y su némesis Cisneros (interpretado por Luis Machín), ambos personajes históricos reales. Esta línea argumental tiene un ligero parecido al "Conde de Montecristo", así que intenté reflejar eso.
This one is the illustration I like the least, mostly because it was subject to a last-minute change (requested by the director) that altered my original concept (which can be seen later in this very same site). This illustration reflects what is, I think, the main storyline of the series: three kids who find a mysterious sword with leads to Garibaldi's hidden treasure, and are aided by an eccentric yet good-willed high school teacher (Fabián Vena).

Esta es la ilustración que menos me gusta, en su mayor parte porque fue sujeta a un cambio de último minuto (pedido por el director) que alteró mi concepto original (que puede ser visto más adelante en esta misma página). Esta ilustración refleja la que es, creo, la línea argumental principal de la serie: tres chicos que encuentran un misterioso sable con pistas del tesoro escondido de Garibaldi, y son ayudados por un excéntrico pero bienintencionado profesor de secundario (Fabián Vena).
The last one is a tragic cop story: good cop Batallini (Alejandro Awada) and his partner (and son) embark on the investigation of a mysterious murder... which turns out to be related to evil entrepeneur Villegas (Boy Olmi) and his henchman, Waters (Alejandro Fiore), who are also going after Garibaldi's lost treasure.

Esta última es una trágica historia policial: el policía bueno Batallini (Alejandro Awada) y su compañero (e hijo) se embarcan en la investigación de un misterioso asesinato... que resulta estar relacionado al malvado empresario Villegas (Boy Olmi) y su secuaz, Waters (Alejandro Fiore), quienes también están tras el tesoro perdido de Garibaldi.

Sketch -- As you can see, red was the main color in the initial idea I had for this postcard. However, I was requeested to add more fire to the burning house, a more skin-like tint in Cisneros' face, and to make Garibaldi's silouette black and white instead of black and red.

This is the "original" final version of the postcard (and my favourite version of the two), made before the director's last-minute change of mind. It feels more light-hearted, which is what I was aiming for.

Esta es la versión final "original" de la postal (y mi favorita de entre las dos), hecha antes del cambio de opinión de último minuto del director. Se siente más alegre, que es a lo que yo apuntaba.
Sketch -- Originally, I was asked to solely draw Batallini and the reflection of the two bad guys on his sunglasses. However, another change of mind by the director meant having to somehow add the tragic scene of Batallini's son death to the mix.

Boceto -- Originalmente, se me pidió dibujar únicamente a Batallini y el reflejo de los dos villanos en sus anteojos de sol. Sin embargo, otro cambio de opinión port parte del director significó tener que agregar, de alguna manera, la trágica escena de la muerte del hijo de Batallini.
My first attempt to add the death scene to the illustration. This was what convinced me a radical change in the colour palette would be necessary in order to better integrate the characters in the lower half to the rest of the picture.
