It all started in 2011 when I first sketched a rounded keyboard for a Smart TV app
we are planning at a StartUp I’ve used to work. Almost 4 years have passed and I still can’t search anything at Netflix or Youtube apps on my tv without cursing some device productors for their painful onscreen keyboards. That’s with now I detailed some more that old idea.
we are planning at a StartUp I’ve used to work. Almost 4 years have passed and I still can’t search anything at Netflix or Youtube apps on my tv without cursing some device productors for their painful onscreen keyboards. That’s with now I detailed some more that old idea.
The central idea of the design was to make a faster way of typing possible to users, with less clicks on the remote control. Instead of using all arrows to navigate by a map of characters - the regular keyboard on tv apps - the new design allow users to click-and-hold arrows until reaching their letter of choice. Then, they just need to confirm it.
To turn typing even more faster central actions were placed at the four coloured buttons
presented in all smart tv remote sets. Backspace, spacebar, cancel and confirm option can be easily pressed, even if they are available at the typing wheel, as well.
