Here is a quick look at the final outcome of the
Retro Nike Poster.
Below are some of the steps i taken to get the effect enjoy!
First of all, I sketched out the Nike Logo in a retro style using sharp lines to create a sort of block effect. I also made a note of the colours i wanted to use.
With the sketch finished i decided to create the logo as block layers but made up of loads of little sections so its easier to edit later on.
With the outline done, i moved on to spiting up the letters in to block shapes. i changed the colour of the layers so i could see them better and to check for mistakes.
i got this effect by duplicating the blocks from above and manipulating them with the direct selection tool.
With the block shapes created i then went through and colourised them individually. I wasnt trying to get the shades and highlights on point but i was just wanted something that looked nice.
I isolated the design and centred it.
I then duplicated the logo layer from about and added a blur to it twice to create this effect (the other duplicated layer i made into a greyscale image)
I masked the blur to the shape of the logo and added the old retro add from Nike and i aslo added an old paper effect over the top with the setting of multiply.
These steps are just basics and i am ultimately pleased with the out come. Both the final images can be downloaded from my deviant are account in their full resolution...
