Patterns inspired from Indian embroidery motifs

Kashida is a type of embroidery done in Kashmir. It is generally done on woollens. It draws inspiration from nature. Common themes include lotus, birds, flowers, creepers, leaves, mangoes, and trees. The base cloth is generally white, off-white, cream or pastel coloured.
Chikankari is done in Uttar Pradesh. It is done on very fine cloth for the shadow work to be clearly visible. The embroided fill is at the back so a shadow of it is seen in the front. There is an enclossing stich in front, surrounding the shadow work.
Kantha is a type of embroidery done in Odisha and West Bengal (coincidently, it's also my grandma's name). Kantha is usually used to make quilts. Women stich old sarees and layer them to create quilts. Kantha is basically a simple running stitch. The stich is enlisted to create motifs.
