reining photography - like a bird
In July 2014 I had the possibilty for another photo shooting in a different way.
Taking pictures "like a bird" from the top view. The pictures show the reining trainer Fabiano Cestari from Italy riding two of the horses trained by him. The setup was as easy as possible. I was sitting in a tractor bucket which was lifted up to - maybe 5 metres height. For the stops I was working with a 70 - 200mm lense and during the spins I used a wide angle lense (16 - 35mm).
Some words to reining itself for those who don't know about it:
Reining is an equine western sports discipline. Reining is ridden in a defined pattern. The highlights at a reining pattern are the maneuvers like the spins and the stops, which can also be seen on the pictures below. Reining is one of the most powerfull disciplines in western sports. The roots of reining are going back to traditional cattle work in the US.
