These pencil drawings were done for a board game concept called 'The Last Council' - where you manage a group of survivors after an unspecified apocalyptic event. The client wanted the images to have a 'Mad Max' meets 'The Archers' feel. The images were to be used in 'situation' cards, wherein various events occur that you must deal with.
I used pencil as we agreed that the pictures should have a vintage/photograph feel. I hope that the images convey some of the humor that is contained within the game, as well as some of my own personal touches.
For my own amusement I contained a small narrative within the cards, of a scientist who joins the commune with the group above. He appears in a few cards and ends up causing more harm than good.
The blackboard was left blank for the client to put in his own maths equation.
A favourite artist of mine is Hieronymus Bosch, who I referenced the composition of this drawing.
