The visual style of Art Deco first appeared in France after WWI. This style emerged from the inter-war period when rapid industrialization was transforming American culture. This print collection mostly takes inspiration from the jewel like spire crowning the Chrysler Building, designed by William Van Alen.
“Art Deco in France found it’s American equivalent in the design of New York’s skyscrapers of the 1920’s. The Chrysler Building was one of the most accomplished essays in the style”
- John Julius Norwich
