There is a lot of connotations of the term “world view”. It is closely related with the significance of life. By world views, we mean general and majority of views regarding the world. But, the meaning of this term is not as simple as it seems. This word speaks volumes about this complicated intellectual phenomenon. As we look at it, this term means a system encompassing general views about the surrounding world and the place of an individual in the same, his or her relationship with the world and with oneself, and the basic positions of the people that is derived as a result of these general views about the world, their firm beliefs, opinions, socio political views, spiritual events, aesthetic and moral ideals and more.

 

The world view is known to function as something quite individualistic in nature though it possesses an existence which is relatively independent in the social consciousness sphere. When an individual is able to form a world view which is definite, he or she becomes an individual. This process of world view formation clearly indicates the maturity seen in the individual as well as in the group as a whole. Many Greek sceptics have encountered the issue of world view formation. They found that the meaning of this seemingly simple looking world is far greater than what it seems. Also, it may have several meanings.

 

Many times, we speak about the world view of an ordinary man in terms of philosophy, society, politics, nature, science, religion and many more subjects which is quite natural. If different world views are pictured in the form of circles, we would find that the central position is always given to the world view pertaining to the philosophy. This centrally located world view will then intersect with other views but will always occupy a firm position just as a nucleus in the cell. This way, it is seen that social groups and people view the term world view in all diversity. Besides so much diversity seen in the views, a certain unity seems to be revealed in the world view embracing a lot of questions.

 

Questions about what is a man, interrelationship between matter and spirit, existence of world outside us, the place occupied by a man in the universal phenomena of interconnection, how does an individual seeks reality, what is evil and what is good, what makes the life beautiful, how is the societal development guided by the laws, the sum total of natural sciences and many more. Answers to these questions guide us in forming our view about any issue. We can also form an opinion about World Food for that matter. These views not only guide an individual but gradually the society as a whole. Thus, it is very important to consider all those factors that help in creating views and opinions about something. For this purpose, one must not be influenced by prejudices or certain preconceived notions but on the basis of certain factors, an objective view must be formed.
