When my local MP asked me to design materials to promote Walthamstow's Wonderful Women Walk - an International Women's Day event that would see local women recreate the march that members of the Suffragettes made through Walthamstow - I was delighted. It was certainly a challenge though... I had to use green and purple (Suffragette colours), include a subtle reference to women and integrate a low resolution grainy photo taken in 1910! On top of this there was no money available to get the A5 flyers printed professionally so I designed them to come out ok on a standard home printer - no bleed and the front and back on the same page so they would only need to be cut down the middle!

 

The final design was also used on a banner that everybody signed and was carried at the front of the march.

 

 

Many local women, of all ages, took part in the event.
