DEVELOPMENT

When I started thinking to create spaces, I inspired by some drawings of Mies Van Der Rohe, which shows a contrast between space and every type of environment, which he depicts it through the contrast of an architectural space and expressionism art.
So, I created spaces, based on the 3 three snapshots of each story, and at every step I was keeping only my character’s perception of the surrounding.
At the end I was depicting that perception through architectural spaces and expressionist drawings, which were most suited with its occasion. These spaces I will combine them and use them for my design.

DESIGN

I chose to make a club with an artistic particularity, because most of the area consists of industrial environment, which comes from the history of the place. As also, the last decades Hoxton is under an artistic development, through street art, gallery spaces and unique shops.
So, to conflict in my building these social groups, the young artists, the young gangsters and generally the youth of the area, I decided to create that kind of artistic club.
Specifically the main theme is a club combined with seasonal art studios – small exhibition spaces, where young artists could sale and exhibit their work.

I started creating the shape of my building, based on these images.
I created a transcript combining shapes and forms from the above images and through that I create volumes which formed the structure of the building.
Through the final shape of my building, I am trying to represent the contrast between the complexities that create each story.
The club is the core of the building and around it extends the art studios, as also there is another layer which is an exhibition corridor space that at some points will have access to the main core through the art studios.

The outside layer will be open during the whole day, in contrast with the club which will be open at nights. So, during the day the club will be working only as an exhibition space – lounge bar and at night will be open as a club with exhibition parts.

So important role has the movements of the groups through the building, where they will be conflicted and at the same time there will be parts of the building which will abstract separate them.
