Highlander Lüdenscheid - Logo-Set

Established in 1997 the Highlander Lüdenscheid are a German Skaterhockey Club. The Highlander are tied to oldest sports club in Lüdenscheid - the LTV 61 (Lüdenscheider Turnverein von 1861). The Highlander made their way to the top German league having the biggest success in 2008 when reaching the championships final but losing to the Duisburg Ducks in two games in the best of three series. By reaching the final the team qualified for the european cup 2009 and made it to the 4th place in that tournament.

The team could not repeat that success in the following years. After nearly dropping out of the league in 2012 - the Highlander demanded a new logo to put that season behind them and forming a new era. The task was to create the "Highlander". As a former player for the team and being responsible for the outer appearance of the club (Logo, jerseys, website) since 2003 I was approached to come up with that "Highlander".

My goal was to bring pride and confidence - a warrior awaiting the battle but standing beyond things trusting in his own strength. The primary is accompanied by a shield that gives reference to the old logo plus featuring the L61-symbol of the LTV 61 logo. In addition to that it has the checkboard pattern of the coat of arms of Lüdenscheid. The tertiary HL-Logo brings another option for apparel with little space.
