WEEK 6: Line Colour

Ever since I was young, I've had a reasonably sound ability to replicate art by drawing what I see. For this excersise, I imagined a model as if I were looking from above, and managed to capture a sense of liveliness and dimensionality which I found very pleasing.
It's a shame I wasn't able to capture more images of the model with her clothes on like this one, as the interplay between the skin tones and the fabric creates a very life-like effect.
It is interesting just how vividly the image that is coloured tends to 'pop' off the page as if the multiplied colour has immediately breathed a sense of depth and realism into the otherwise flat lines.
It is to your credit if this image makes no sense to you. That's a good sign; it means you don't spend too much time on the internet. For your reference, try this: http://i.imgur.com/rVNa2tn.jpg

For the rest of us, this image is a further addition to burgeoning world of 'memes'. Increasingly, the art world is growing to recognize digital forms of expression as legitimate, as epitomized by the recent exhibition of GIF's held at the Museum of the Moving Image.
This was the first image in this series I created. I was still very much wrapping my head around the tools required, and ended up doing all of the colouring on a single layer which caused some issues.
This was the second image I created for this set. I noticed in the first one the lack of shading / internal detail was making the image bland, so I added some lines within random shape. After this image it was clear I needed to combine the digital colouring techniques with a real drawing.
