Thalivadan

An Echo of Cultural and Traditions

The Thalivadan is a traditional musical instrument to the cultural heritage of the Adivasi communities in the Dang district of Gujarat. This project aims to document the historical and cultural significance of Thalivadan, exploring its role in the community’s celebrations and rituals. Being part of the Western Ghats, this Adivasi community is surrounded by trees, mountains, waterfalls, streams, birds and beasts.

By taking inspiration from the traditions that have impacted musical expression throughout history and want to produce the every shades of emotions with every resounding note and passing down to one generation to next, the melodies and techniques carry the resonance of familial connection and shared a love for music.
