What used to be known as The Pleasure Boat Pub was being refurbished and updated. The old bar was in the middle of the pub and we decided to relocate it on one side to make more efficient use of the floor space that could be used for seating.

The old venue was mainly disco orientated but the new venue would be targeting the daytime and evening diners. This way there is a much more manageable crowd.

The granite pieces were salvaged from a bar in northwood hills that was being refurbished and it would have been thrown away. Luckily we managed to utilise almost 100% of it.
After the movement of the bar, the next most dramatic change was the floor. It used to be a typical dark grimey pub floor. But after numerous days and night with industrial floor sanders it came out like new.
The left of this photo is the old floor, the right is the freshly sanded floor. If left untreated the wood would b evunerable to rot and would get damaged very easily. We decided to use Sadolin which is £50 a tub! But the results were great and the photos do not do it justice. It is essential to have a well protected floor as in a pub countless drinks will be spilt aswell as the harmful chemicals that the cleaners inevitably use.
This was the last night of floor sanding and staining which went on for far longer than expected.
After we had finished tiling I did black grouting everywhere to finish it off
After much thought we decided to retain the classic black and white beamed ceiling as it adds unique character to the building.
My brother and I ran CAT6 cables and audio cables. There were a total of 6 speaker wires creating 3 differant zones. A total of 4 TVs all of which are HD and individually controlled through a Matrix. It was essential that we ran and chased all the necessary cables and tested them before the plastering and painting was done to prevent a double job.
the little strips of timber are temporarily holding some patterned panels to the counter which are stuck with gripfill
We replaced all the old glass with new double glazed frames ourselves
We refurbished what we could of the old sign by taking out the 'pleasure' from 'The Pleasure Boat'. We repainted everything relocated the letters and re striped the border.
Here are some quick logos I made up in Photoshop
It was decided that my logo was to complicated so we opted for an iconic boat steering wheel that could be recognised from a mile away. I created this artwork using photoshop, it was then sent to a glass factory where they frosted my logo onto glass and used it for two privacy screens to divide a seating area. The logo was then sent to a flag company which printed a series of flags that have been put inbetween the front garden and the roadside.
During the refurb we had a complete re wiring of the whole pub. We had new lighting everywhere. This involed differant sections of boxed of RGB LEDs which could all be controlled from a master control. In addition to this there were the typical various zones of LED spots and outside LED lights to draw attention from the roadside. Here is a poster I made
