I struggle sometimes with collage work, but almost immediately I knew what direction I wanted to take my work for this assignment. Recently I have been focused on the affect that capitalism and consumerism has on myself, and I describe it as a sense of immunity but also burn out. I am so accustomed to seeing advertisements that I am nearly blind to them now, but at the same time I see ads so frequently that no where is safe from them. I'm simultaneously numb and overwhelmed by the presence of capitalism. I wanted to convey this conflicting feeling in my collage.
