For my art direction assignment, the concept of identity grabbed my attention from the start. Initially, my idea revolved around creating a theme called "Shades of Identities," exploring the contrasting elements of masculinity and femininity. However, I encountered difficulties in translating these concepts into compelling visual narratives for the photoshoot. Then, inspiration struck when I began contemplating our five senses, which led me down a train of thought that eventually decided into the theme of emotions. "Shades of Emotions" emerged—an identity-centric idea with the tagline, "How do you feel today?" I selected colors that not only evoke specific feelings but also curated scents that align with those emotions. Considering the lens through which this generation, particularly Gen Z and Millennials, views identity as a fluid and multi-faceted concept, what better way to represent it than through the interplay of scents, colors, and emotions? Approaching the assignment as a brand launch, I adeptly utilized Adobe Photoshop and AI to generate captivating background images. I sourced visually striking fragrance bottle visuals from Adobe Stock and skillfully incorporated typography using Adobe Express. Finally, I seamlessly brought all the components together using Adobe InDesign to create a captivating magazine spread that exudes confidence and coherence.
