Exam Plan:
For my 15 hour exam i decided to write up a plan, so that i could avoid wasting time. After doing my secondary research i decided that my final piece would be a family photo book, created with collage. I knew this would take majority if not all of my 15 hours to create, therefore i will leave a set amount of time to write my learners statement, as i feel i will be able to talk more clearly about my project when it is in front of me. On the run up i have bought a red self adhesive photo book from WHSmith, this will be my final product. I also have began going through the many boxes i have filled with family photos as i want to use my current images and old photos for a comparison.
As i do not want to cut or stick any original images, due to the fact they cannot be replaced, i have to scan each image in and from it. Once this is done i choose the size i want for my image and print it out. This will be very time consuming so i will try and get this out the way at the beginning of the exam time. This is shown below through photoshop.
As for my final outcome which is my photo book created with collage, i will need: scissors, glue, coloured paper, and different backgrounds for my work. i will be using artist research to held aid me on what to do and also go off some personal experimentation. My main artist will be Jim Goldberg that i focus and relate a lot of my work too. I am only creating one final outcome as i feel this will show 15 hours of work well and will in fact also take around 15hours to create as i don't want to rush it. The images below are xamples of how i want my book to look:
Example of how i incorporate John Stezakers work into mine:
I used photoshop in order to experiment with this type of collage. I firstly picked my background image of my two friends talking, i quite like the blurry effect as it makes the smaller image the centre of attention. Next i used the framing tool, and created the outline of the size and shape i wanted my image to be. Lastly i chose my smaller image as blacvk and white boats i photographed on a walk. I added the image onto the background and joined the layer and the framing layer together.
More examples on how i create some of my collage:
For this page, i scanned in the two images i was using, i then cut out the young boy (my grandad) and stuck him onto the top of the other image to create the look of my grandad when he was a teen walking himself as a child. I kept the background quite simplistic as i did not want to take away from the image and the story behind them.
