IBM | Mainframe 50
Event Opener Video

IBM Mainframe is a large computer system produced by IBM since 1952 that powers large infrastructure such as airlines, retail and banks. To celebrate it’s 50th anniversary in 2015, IBM organized an event in New York City and needed an inspirational video opener.
The video was part of a bigger campaign that aimed to establish the mainframe as the engine of the future. The 50th anniversary was an opportunity to shift perception of the mainframe and demonstrate the years of innovation that have made it an elite choice for businesses.

The Creative Challenge

The graphic style of the video had to fit seamlessly into established branding guidelines for the overall campaign.
The inspiration behind the animation came from the application of the platform itself in the real world, as main infrastructure for large operations. The graphics style connected the abstract engineering concepts of the product and its real world applications, all this while celebrating the importance and impact of the Mainframe on everyday life.

IBM Mainframe50 project won a Platinum award in the Digital Marketing category for the AVA Digital Awards. This was part of a campaign that won numerous additional awards.
