In Korea and other Asian countries, plastic surgery is becoming alarmingly widespread. Per capita, South Korea has the highest rate of cosmetic plastic surgery in the world. Girls in middle school are getting operations as celebratory gifts for doing well in school. Women’s worth is directly proportional to how they look, and in Asia, where there are extremely narrow and fleeting perceptions of beauty, women resort to surgery to get ahead in life.
