Paper Boy (the 60-minute YouTube video featured) is a story about Ben Hedges, a 16 year old teenager who is being raised by a single Mom. Times are tough and Mom asks Ben to find a job. He lands a job working for an unscrupulous daily newspaper.
My name is Charles Reuben and I wrote the screen play and created this film. I know it is very rough but it tells a story, two stories actually, that I've been wanting to tell for a long, long time.
I am deeply indebted to Richard McCord of Santa Fe for giving me permission to use his amazing book, THE CHAIN GANG: ONE NEWSPAPER VERSUS THE GANNETT EMPIRE as inspiration for this film.
I would also like to thank the good people at www.plotagon.com for their help in creating this film by letting me use the beta version of their software and also, the people at Adobe for their help in the post-production work. I apologize for the imperfections in this film but perhaps it will inspire some creative person to roll up their sleeves and do the job right!
