For this project I was given the option of two plays or the new works initiative to make poster designs for. In the end I chose the new works initiative as it was one of the two remaining options that were left after metal children filled up. Between idiot's delight and the new works initiative I felt I had more creative liberty when it came to designing for the new works initiative. When I was coming up with the concept for my poster, I struggled for quite some time thinking of what to come up with as the concepts in question relate to the keyword's youth, honest, and contemporary. The other concepts that I focused on when designing this poster were new and writing as the new works initiative focuses on new works by playwrights. In consideration of this fact, I opted for bright colors and a pen to represent writing and eventually picked out the simplest yet most effective design from my various process works.
The various steps of this project go like this:
1.Mood board
2. Various 11" by 17" roughs
3. Narrowing it down to 2 solid designs
4. Applying said designs to the poster template
5. Lastly narrowing it down to just one design and applying that design to various different sizes and format sizes
in the end only one design would get chosen for each of the plays as well as the new works initiative
