Idiot's Delight JCCC Music, Theatre, and Recording Arts Showcase Poster
The poster crafted for the JCCC Theatre program evokes a rich tapestry of emotions. Entrusted with the task of encapsulating romance tinged with precariousness and obliviousness, I meticulously designed an image that embodies these nuanced sentiments. Employing a vibrant color palette dominated by varying shades of pink, mixed with cooler tones of green and blue, I aimed to accentuate the precarious nature of the narrative.
For those unfamiliar with the play Idiots Delight, allow me to provide a brief overview. Idiots Delight is a play set in a fancy hotel in the Italian Alps during World War II. It follows a group of diverse characters who find themselves together there. As the war looms, they deal with love, politics, and their own fears. The play mixes humor, romance, and drama, offering a snapshot of human nature during a turbulent time.
In the poster design showcased below, subtle nods to WW2 propaganda, such as missiles and an atomic bomb cloud, are incorporated, albeit without overshadowing the central theme. The figures depicted in the poster remain blissfully unaware of the chaos unfolding around them, enraptured instead by the allure of romance amidst their travels.
