Bubble by Malika Novi

In the Bubble ottoman, designer Malika Novi’s two greatest passions — fashion and design — become one. For this chair, the creative was inspired by the softness of Moncler down jackets and the now iconic shapes of furnishings from the ‘60s and ‘70s. These references led her to design an ottoman that combines the softness of a padded cushion with the rigidity of its structure and base, made of Mirage porcelain stoneware. With this first prototype, the designer employed ceramic, once again demonstrating the potential of the material, which, in this case, leads to the creation of a functional and aesthetically pleasing element.

This project was a participant of the Mirage Expansion: during Fuorisalone 2023, Milan’s Marangoni Institute stages an original exhibition fusing the excellence of Italian ceramics with the experiments of young international designers.
