"Imperialist", 56 x 46 Acrylic on Canvas
“This painting was part of a series that had me getting my friends to pose with guns, implying that it is people from all walks of life who are armed and dangerous, not just urban ghetto kids or Cowboys. Our friends, family members and neighbors are killing each other either by accident or intent because of the amount of guns in homes. The painting became "Imperialist" after I looked at the patterns I had subconsciously painted.
The chair is covered in crowns ( throne?), the stars and stripes and chains perhaps alluding to slavery. Remember this is all subconscious and is open to interpretation.” - Stephen Hall
