ARTD 444 | Final Magazine Project
Project Overview
One thing I have always seen popularized among fandoms is whenever the author gives an extra effort to deliver more content that pertains to world building. People love being immersed into the worlds they read about, and many franchises have done that well (Gravity Falls’s journals, Harry Potter’s Fantastic Beasts Books, etc.). I want to provide more content for my audience to get to know my comic and its world. Included will be pictures of certain plants, the environments they need to survive, and also the meaning and value of the plants. My goal with the design is to make this a leisure read and have the page design be as elegant as flowers. The title I am currently thinking of for my magazine is “The Beginner’s Guide to Bewitched Botany” with the main logo/brand being Bewitched Botanics.
Target Audience
My magazine is going to be aimed towards my future comic’s audience. Specifically, people who want to know more about the botanical world building of my comic. While my magazine will be written/designed as a guide for someone interested in botany who lives in my comic’s world, Undaterra, I also want it to serve as an immersive experience for my future audience. (Niche: Wild, Cultural, Entertainment). For specifics, my target would be: Any self-identified gender individual, age 16+ who goes to school and hopes to see more diversity in the media, this day and age. They would probably pick this magazine up after having read my comic, as an addition to the story’s lore in order to be able to identify flowers throughout my comic. This person is very observant, and likes things being organized and well-thought out.
