Designers’ obsession with certain type of object may be a kind of unconscious obsessive-compulsive disorder. For designers, though many objects such as trite artifacts, stones, papers, or objects featuring certain colors or shapes are difficult to identify the collection value, they would still be included in the collection lists.
 
Those collections could reflect a designer’s character and living environment,
for example, Hong Kong designer Otto Ng likes to put many clocks on his bed;
could reflect a designer’s design approach, for example, the photographer
Piyatat Hemmatat use camera to record things around; 
could cultivate design idea and work system, for example,
Peng&Chen find the method of sorting out information through their collection;
collection records your life experience, for example,
Kan Tai-keung uses rulers to make graphic design as well as costume design.
 
Designers fuse their inspiration and interpretation gained through their collection into their works. 
That is what we want to provide in this issue with the theme of designers' collection.

做設計的人對於某种特定物品有所執念。
可能是經久失修的陳腐物件,
可能是不值幾文的石頭、紙張,
也可能是某個顔色、某种形狀,
難以看出存留它們的意義所在。
 
殊不知那些看似沒什麽物質價值的收藏品:
可反映一个設計師的個性与生活环境,像醒來就要見到滿床鬧鐘的香港設計師吳鎮麟
可解讀出設計師的工作方式,像習慣于用相機記錄和捕捉事物的攝影師Piyatat Hemmatat
可培養出思想和工作的體系,像彭楊軍與陳皎皎就此投射出雜誌資訊的分析梳理;
記載著歷史陳述了往事,像靳叔不僅用尺子做過平面設計,也做過服裝設計。
 
設計師從收藏裏得到的感悟,以自己的解讀方式,
融入到創作當中,從而變成爲大家所見的作品。
本期將要呈現的便是促成以上種種的功臣,
設計師的收藏
