Games Fleadh Promo

A project I worked on which showcases the Gaming Competition called "Games Fleadh" that TUS Thurles hosts every year.
The aim of the video was to encourage attendance and show the atmosphere of the event. My course was asked to film the event as much as possible and use this footage to edit it. I think this video conveys the competition very well.
I also made the "Games Fleadh" logo at the start of the video from scratch and tried to incorporate their logo into it. I chose the theme of "Arcade Machine" and retro gaming as some games that were made for the "Games Fleadh" event were 8-bit and arcade looking and there was arcade machines at the event so this inspired me to add this idea to the logo.
The layout of the video was the trickiest part as there are many different ways to go about making a promotional video for events and choosing the most effective is subjective. I went for firstly showing some Behind the Scenes footage and people having fun at the event to encourage people to come and experience the silly-ness. Then I added the games that were entered into the competition and a couple developers talking about their game to convey to viewers that this is a taste of what they would see if they attend. Lastly, I put in a part about the Robocode and the awards, I added this at the end as this was the last thing we experienced and this wasn't the biggest part of the event.
I feel as though I captured the true and raw essence of the "Games Fleadh" event very well and showed viewers that "Games Fleadh" is more than competing games to win a prize but it is to have some fun, see the world of developers and talking to them and to open yourself up to new experiences.
