IBM, an official partner of the 2014 US open, teamed up with musician James Murphy (formerly of LCD Soundsystem) to create the US Open Sessions – a live project that turned US Open match data into live streaming music in real time with the IBM Cloud. Each match in the tournament generated a unique song, which then received an individual illustration serving as album artwork for the track. There were 250 matches, yielding 250 individual songs and album covers.
I was one of several artists commissioned by Ogilvy New York to create the original artwork for the music tracks.
(Check out Karan Singh’s amazing work on the project here, he was another one of the artists involved! )
